driving over the underpass
a manual for the automatic
sitting up atop underpants
it’s the moving stationery
still making memory dance

Betty Boop will reminisce
for old Beatrice Bopowitz
she was before that after
with sorrow and laughter
down here in the rafters

she manages to remember
some long-forgotten tune
about the sun or the moon
or December maybe June
that flat-out made
the world go round
some other life in
some other town
