NJM7: What Did and Didn't Happen in These Foolish Things

It feels like days since I’ve written an entry because I wrote so early yesterday and now I’m writing late-ish today. I don’t feel like writing right now, but I will because I said I would.

I got quite a bit accomplished over the weekend with regards to putting the finishing touches on my apartment. It’s a good push when you have people coming over. Best Bud and my friend Lee last night and then my parents will be staying for a couple of days after Thanksgiving. I still have a few things left to do in my “primary” bedroom (noticed that’s what the folks on HGTV are calling it since it’s now politically incorrect to call it a “master”) before the holidays, but I’m almost there!

I didn’t get to have lunch with my high school friend yesterday because his plane was delayed and that cut his layover here too short for him to leave the terminal. Kind of a bummer but kind of OK because I ended up getting more shopping done and there was no opportunity for awkwardness. Still would have been kind of cool to see him again.

I was already close to the airport when he canceled on me. I’d gotten my car washed and everything, so I guess deep down I felt this was an important meeting, you know? But again, it’s all good. The airlines are just not predictable anymore.

Funny thing, I met a guy at the car wash and we might actually be going out on a date! More details about that to follow if it actually happens. You know I’ll RAD the hell out of that! What a great meet cute story that could be!

But also, you know my luck so I’m not going to push it.

Anyway, the Girls Night did happen! Best Bud came over early and we actually got invited to Maria’s house for a quick visit as they were having friends and family over to celebrate one of Maria’s grandchildren’s birthday. There were way more adults than there were kids and it was pretty cool to be among people again, but I was also a little freaked out to be around SO MANY PEOPLE.

Everyone there knew I’d just finished treatment and there was quite the fuss over me for a bit. It felt good but also awkward. Not sure I can even explain.

But we didn’t stay long anyway because Lee was headed over to my place.

Rest of the evening was mellow at the Treehouse. We drank and talked and laughed and ate snacks until well past midnight. I truly can’t remember the last time I have stayed up until midnight! Truly.

Nice to sleep in a bit this morning. Best Bud spent the night so that was fun to have a slow morning with her, sipping coffee and then walking the dog. She left before 10.

And then it was back to being alone on this beautiful fall day.

My Car Wash guy sent me a text wishing me a fantastic day. And it WAS pretty fantastic.

I’m happy just being here. I wanted nothing more than for this day to last forever. Not really any particular reason except for that it was a beautiful day and that it was Sunday and I really don’t want Monday to come!

But it will. I know it’s pretty early, but I’m exhausted and want to get up early tomorrow to start the week off right. I want to work out hard and I’ve even done super healthy meal prep for this week.

Anyway, wish things were more exciting, but I have a feeling things are going to start to heat up soon when the weather cools down. Isn’t it nesting season or something?

Love you much!

The best part of someone staying over is the early morning chats over coffee - I have started actually booking morning coffee dates with people now that I'm not drinking. I find it's great for flowing conversation and feeling relaxed!
