When we aren't connected to our emotional reality, we don't experience our feelings, then our feelings will always escalate.
That is why anxiety disorders, or any kind of psychological/ emotional disorder get worse over time. Our unconscious mind is vastly more powerful than our conscious mind. It's like an iceberg, and the conscious is like a butterfly. Thinking is really pretty; it's really neat and fascinating and colorful, but it has no weight and no reality behind it like emotional reality does.
