So, I’ve been playing StarCraft II again. Been many years, so I’m a bit rusty on the lore. However, I also played through StarCraft and Brood Wars back in the late 90’s. So, I know who Sarah Kerrigan is.

At the time, I thought “They so stole this idea from Star Trek.” So, since knowledge is faster to come by, I checked the dates. ST: First Contact came out in 1996.

StarCraft was released in 1998.

Okay. There’s more. I was listening to Kerrigan’s dialogue, and I could swear I knew the actress’s voice. I thought it was Jeri Ryan, who portrays Seven of Nine. I was off by one.

That’s Six, portrayed by Tricia Hefler. If you’ve never seen Battlestar Galactica, you’re in for a treat. Like Jeri Ryan before her, she’s more than eye candy. Woman has RANGE.

That’s Seven, with her borglings. She’s such an awesome MommyBorg.

Okay, let’s take the next step down this rabbit hole. BSG was a reboot of a 1978 TV series.

Gosh, the cylons had a stormtrooper vibe, never noticed that before. Star Wars was released in 1977, one year prior.

But gee, what could have MAYBE inspired this? Oh yeah. One of the few series that predates Trek and has enough content to make you soil yourself. (60’s Star Trek has more sentient robots/androids than is generally known, I’ll skip that.)

Mister Who and the cybermen.. Not really sure if there’s any medium that the cybermen might have been based on. Probably would have to go to more literary inspirations. …Oh no, I just thought of one. Doctor Who started in 1963. I know a 1951 film, “The Day The Earth Stood Still”.

Assimilation is so much more difficult to resist when she’s easy on the eyes. Heck, even the Matrix addressed this. Now, were you listening to me, or were you paying attention to the woman in the red dress?

Yeah, I didn’t really have a point. I like connecting the geekdom dots?

“Were you paying attention, Neo? Or were you looking at the woman in the red dress?”

One of my favorite movie quotes.

You know what I hated about the reboot of BSG? (Other than their tremendously overused slang for fuck, that is....) NO MOTHERFUCKING MUFFIT. Where the heck what the robot dog?!

I'm not going to stop saying "frak". Might fall to the wayside the way I dropped GOTO over time.
