The last two days have been super relaxing! Yesterday we went to Universal, which was SO NICE on a Wednesday! The weather was beautiful, the parks weren’t crowded, and we got to do so much stuff!! Brian and I took today off as well and my mother offered to have Cam do his school work at her house so we could spend the day together. It was much needed!
Yesterday we started at Islands of Adventure because they had Early Park Admission, however we quickly learned that Early Park Admission at IOA means they only open The Hulk and Hagrids, neither of which we can ride, so we left IOA and went to Universal. The first thing we did was run into #HashtagPanda from The Tonight Show, then we got into the Christmas Tribute Store. We walked through all the rooms, taking our time, taking pictures, and then we got to the snacks room!! I got a Peppermint Chocolate Mousse Ornament and Cam got a giant Gingerbread Cookie. They were so good! We were having our breakfast/junk food snack when Brian told Cam Transformers opened, so Cam practically threw the cookie at me because he knows I don’t like that ride (3D/Virtual rides make me sick). We met the Pharaoh outside of The Mummy on the way, the best part was Cam didn’t realize the Pharaoh had got so close to him when he posed for a picture that he actually jumped back when he turned around! While they rode Transformers, I met Megatron and afterwards we met Scooby Doo and the whole gang, then ran into the Shrek Float coming out with Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Dragon; behind the float was DuLock residents along with the Three Blind Mice. From there we went to the SpongeBob Squarepants store and we found out about the Christmas Tree Scavenger Hunt, which we decided to do. So We started our hunt for the 17 decorated trees around both parks and City Walk, but first we decided to have a snack. We had some Combo’s and Cokes (because apparently that’s how the 80’s tasted) when Doc Brown from Back To The Future came walking around the corner. He spent a few minutes talking to us, which was awesome. We watched the Animal Adventure show then decided to get on our happy way for the tree hunt. We rode MIB (where both the guys kicked my butt!) and our stamp and a picture of all the tress at Universal, but not before going through the Macy’s Day Parade exhibit area. They have a bunch of balloons and floats from the parade, as well as other characters like Gru, King Julien, and Santa. That was my favorite part of the day! I also have to say, the balloons were much smaller than I thought they would be. They look huge on TV, but they weren’t that large in person.
When we left Universal and went over to Islands of Adventure we went to Suessville where they’re doing Grinchmas! This is the whole reason I bought Premier Passes!! To see Suessville and GRINCHMAS! We saw The Lorax and Sam’s Friend when I realized they were doing a legit meet and greet with THE FREAKIN’ GRINCH! We went to get in line and were asked if we had a reservation. What?? I didn’t know we needed one! (Honestly, for a moment my heart dropped) The guy said we could take our chances with standby, but it could be 45 minutes to an hour. I looked at Brian and told him we were waiting because I wanted to meet the Grinch. While we were waiting we got to see Thing 1 and Thing 2. Meeting the Grinch was Grinchtastic!
After that we had lunch at Fire Eaters, but on the way there we ran into KungFu Panda and the Tiger (I never saw that movie, so I’m not sure of their names.) While we were eating outside King Julien pulled up again dancing around right across from us, so that was cool. We were getting tired so decided to go around the rest of the park and get our last stamps for the trees and while doing that we got to meet Spiderman and Captain America.
On our way out we stopped at the Universal Studios Store at City Walk, which was the last stop on the Scavenger Hunt, and got our last stamp along with the ornament. By this time we were all exhausted and my body ached so much! According to my watch we walked 7 miles and did 16,000 steps.
When we got home I crashed! I slept for nearly 10 hours.
Brian and I both took today off work as well, but we didn’t want Cameron to miss another day of school so my mother offered to have him do his school work at her house today so we could spend the day together.
After we dropped him off at my mom’s we came by home and were talking about this crazy paper goods shortage that’s going on in the world again. We decided to take our chances with at Wal-Mart. We got a roll of paper towels and a package of toilet paper, we decided to try to order some things from the internet. Anyway, after we got our paper good stuff we decided to do some Christmas shopping for Cameron. We picked up a couple of gifts for him then decided to head to the mall to see if the Hickory Farms was opened so I could get the Summer Sausage. To my great dismay there is NO FUCKING HICKORY FARMS KIOSK IN OUR MALL!! So, we ended up at Bath and Body were I got a few hand sanitizers and wallflower replacements.
We went to Bono’s for lunch, then Starbucks for a Peppermint Mocha Frappaccino, and finally ended up at Target – a stereotypical Basic Middle Class White Couple!
Once we got home we chilled out a bit and did some laundry, then went to pick up Cam.
It’s been a chilling relaxing night as well. We ordered Chinese food for dinner and now we’re watching The Polar Express.
It was nice to take some relaxing days in the middle of all the chaos in our life right now. And Honestly, Brian and I needed a day to reconnect. It was wonderful.
Tomorrow we’re back to work, then off for two days, and working for 3 until we’re off for 4.
