Whatever, Mansplainer. in These Foolish Things

Ugh. Have you ever felt like everything was falling apart at work? Like, everybody is in a foul mood and stressed out because they can’t get their shit together (like…NOBODY) and then they lose it on YOU when you ask follow up questions?

I just had this guy email me and copy my boss giving me the old, “I’ve been in this business for 25+ years…” and blah, blah, blah…blowing up at me when all I was doing was asking him to watch the QUALITY of something he was submitting for APPROVAL.

He acted like something he did was a FAVOR to me when it’s all part of the process of product development. And then he wanted me to approve the photograph he sent as if I was approving the sample.. So I can’t see it, touch it, feel it, approve it. I went back and told him that I needed the factory to improve a certain aspect and I got a whole MANSPLANATION of how he’s done this for so many years and it’s the nature of the product.

Well guess what, motherfucker? I’ve been doing this for just as long as you have, I’ve asked other factories to make the same improvement and they have without hesitation… and I am the customer. Like, you’re going to tell me that I don’t know what I’m talking about?

I sent an email back to him with an explanation that I’m trying to watch quality here so we don’t ship out a shit product. And his answer back was, “Completely understood and agreed [smiley face emoji]”

And Boss is going absolutely apeshit over things. The good news is that we can’t make product fast enough for the demand. The bad news is that we can’t make product fast enough for the demand.

So. Tomorrow I have a Teams video interview with a company I’ve been watching for a long, long time. Interesting timing, huh?

To get a job with them right now would be an absolute coup. This is a gigantic company…like, bigger than I’ve ever worked for before. I actually do well with large companies. There’s structure, and for some reason, I do well with making that structure seem fun and exciting. Like, my bosses, colleagues and staff seem to like me more in a structured setting - maybe it’s because I make their jobs easier. Maybe it’s because I’m comfortable with corporate settings and tend to shine during corporate meetings and presentations. Whatever it is, I do believe that I’m built for this kind of job and as long as I can ace the interview, I’m very well suited.

So, secret positive vibes around noon tomorrow (Thursday the 24th) would be suuuuuper helpful, thank you!

Anybody have any tips about interviewing on Microsoft Teams? I think I’ve only used Teams once and it was fine. Just wondering if there are any quirks.

Anyway. I gotta get back to work - just really, REALLY excited about this opportunity. Kind of like when I’m super duper excited about a guy before a first date, but I already know that this company is exceedingly successful…meaning, I know their reputation and their importance in the grand scheme of things (so I won’t blow them off, hahah).
