It was 90 degrees out yesterday. I know its “fall” but it seems as though fall never comes here haha. Ok its only 70 today and feels a bit more fall. We had to drive to find some fall colors. Living in the deserty climate is weird. We drove from our 5K feet elevation to 10K and found aspens changing color. We had to go for quite the mountain drive to find some fall colors lol.

The kids were all meh. They didnt particularly like to be stuffed in the suv with the dogs lol. But we managed. We packed lunch and had it in the mountains. We got to let the dogs run loose a bit. Its so hard when they just cant run loose. But they have a lot of leash laws here. So out in the middle of no where its easier. They are on verbal leashes and listen very well. But still. We meandered through the woods a bit, ever on the lookout for snakes. I managed to find a couple acorns. Its the little things that excite me. There were no Oaks in Alaska. I decided I want to grow an Oak and a maple for sure in the yard. The colors are awesome. Im not sure if maple is wild here? I havent seen any red except in town where they are planted. They do have cottonless cottonwood. Its interesting. The trees are the perfect creepy tree for winter, and would be for Halloween, if they loose the leaves by then haha. Remains to be seen seeing it was 90 out haha.

Its kinda interesting that the drive we went on, it used to be a mineing trail with only a rail road where now was the road. So the red bridge is a very old wooden bridge. Its really neat.

Anyway, the drive was great. the mountains are so different here, rocks are different. Its such a different everything. No regrets at leaving ever. The house is coming together. The yard has a long long way to go, but seeing as planting trees isnt critical to life, its not a priority. We plan on building some garden boxes and digging holes for trees in the weird thing they call winter. ( average temp is in the 40s.... thats winter? ) Then when spring comes around, ( or so the calendar tells us) we will be ready.

B is doing well. Hes not really made any kind of interest in talking to J. I told him he should delete her text messages ect. I think he will when hes ready. Co has been being clingy. A weird state for my 16 yo haha. Hes been wanting to spend time in the adult living room instead of the family room. Im waiting for him to say what it is he wants to say. I think maybe ill pack up all the kids and meander down to spirit halloween. Cant really get anything but at least we can enjoy checking it out. Gotta do something today.

The desert side of Colorado. The side that is flat and windy and full of cacti and tumbleweed haha. We can see mountains from our house and its like a half hour 45 minute drive to them, But this spot was about 20-30 minutes?

Its a smaller city, 30K people BUT maybe 20 biz in the entire area. Its all residential ( and a few schools) Then we are only 15 minutes to the city where eall the shopping needs are. BUT far enough away that we dont feel part of it at all. Then 30 minutes east of the cutest little town ive seen! With buildings built in the 1800s including a prison that is still in use. With stone guard towers. I mean really its pretty cool! I like the area. I do miss trees though lol. Glad we found this mountain pass trail not too far out!
