Imbloc is coming in Secrets of a crafty witch

Just a few more days till the next holiday. Imbloc. Its the turning of the seasons where we honor the light coming back. I think we will do some of the crafts on the page.

I think we will make these. I saw a lot of cattail reeds on one of the nature hikes. How fun would it be to go out, harvest the cattails and use them for this. In fact the next meet up for a hike is sunday, Which is Imbloc. So we could gather the cattails and make the crosses in the park. I mean i wont pressure any OTHER parents to do it. But its reed bending so its fun. The other kids may have fun with it. Even if it dosent have meaning for them.
Another thing it suggests is planing steeds. Perhaps we will get some paper cups and soil and make ourselves some herb starts! That would be great actually. We could have a container herb garden and start our seeds this weekend.
Maybe we will do some house plants. my mom who has a green thumb, says she cant keep them alive here. But im willing to try :) Maybe just a few house plants and greenery!
I do not.. push this faith on the kids. I tell them tiny bits about it as we do crafts that often times date back historically hundreds of years. I am considering taking them to some pagan festivals this summer. There is a much larger community here. I think its good to learn multiple religions and choose what fits in your soul… What resonates with you. Ive done my bit and found where I fit. I hope the same for them. No matter what it is.

I post a bit for the holidays. Researching them and looking for kid appropriate crafts so we can have a 5 minute chat and do a craft. I dont see them often except in the facebook groups ive joined!

It's super rare. My roommate/best friend and I are both heathen, and we live near several hiking spots where I've taken my godson to teach him about the landvaettir and how we need to disconnect from our busy, digital lives and delve into our history as people who depend on the earth and its natural cycles. He's insanely perceptive for 11. I LOVE the craft idea!

Kids learn great with something to keep their hands busy. and i agree about detaching. I try to take mine on nature hikes every few days just to get them detached!
