In the 1990s, we were desperate to keep music and arts in schools. There were some successes but almost ALL of them have been erased since. Our teachers went on strike across the nation in the 10s because $30k plus providing a lot of your own materials is INSANE to expect from highly educated professionals. Now? Now we have ad campaigns focusing on “Save sports in schools.” Because apparently our schools don’t have enough resources to teach OR keep sports???
How have we come here? What kind of society have we become where we don’t value schools? EVERY SINGLE PERSON that complains about welfare, abortions, crime, war, racism… BETTER SCHOOLS IS THE FIRST STEP!! How are we still so ignorant to this?!?!
Any nation that would elect hate and use “Pro Life” as the excuse for it while simultaneously defunding schools is abysmal! Without a strong basic education, the future of our nation is even more in the shitter than I would have predicted. Not for the first or last time I ask… WHAT THE FUCK?!

Conservatives, who are the very ones in this country defunding schools, would say "STEM". Science, Technology, Engineering, Math. If it doesn't directly and immediately connect to a Capitalist Benefit, it isn't necessary. We're turning our schools (even more) into Late Stage Capitalism Zombies.
