More Light Hearted in Book Six: Trying to Hold On 2019

At the risk of being seen as “spamming the sight”, I decided to put up something a little less dry and a little more lighthearted. After all, this is my Middle of the Week Non-Day that is used almost entirely for catch up, prep, and clearing my head before trials. Let’s even do this in a list style… list placement assigned “randomly” the quotations denoting that in areas where subject-matter or source are similar, they were placed in a group intentionally.

  • I have finally broken through one of the two biggest barriers to 100% Completion of Borderlands 2. I have defeated every enemy. I have hunted down every damn BadAss Challenge. I have discovered everything possible. There is now only ONE SINGLE thing left to do in the entire game, including 11 DLC maps/packs. But it isn’t as easy as “hunting down” an enemy or “discovering the hidden Lost Souls Easter Egg in Caustic Caverns.” It is a “loot/drop” issue. I need to grab/equip an Effervescent Quality Grenade. Perhaps this website will help me when I get home.

  • Two of my favorite Female Cosplay Character options are from properties that I feel I have no legitimate claims to. I have always loved Tifa from FFVII; but I’ll let you in on a little secret. As much as I loved that game… I only ever got to play a demo. A timed “You can play the first half hour of missions” kind of demo. I have never played the entire game. Still… love Tifa Cosplay. Also, Hinata from Naruto. Yes, I can sing the “Fighting Dreamers Song” and understand some of the characters… but with very few exceptions, I’ve never watched a full Naruto episode… and I’ve certainly never watched an entire Naruto season.

  • 5 Lost Video Game Mechanics That Need To Come Back is a Cracked.com article that I feel compelled to support. There are thousands of reasons why a video game mechanic might be scrapped forever and I’m not going to try to boil it all down to “cost-avoidance” or “creative-death”. But that being said, as technology gets better… it would be nice to see more mechanic based innovation as opposed to “Look, now you can FPS Zombie in Ultra 4K!

  • 5 Crusading Trolls Who Pranked The Rich And Powerful is a Cracked.com article that… I don’t know if it makes me feel good or bad. Because “yay, people are exposing the things that should be exposed in this world.” But… bad because those things needed to be exposed and in too many cases haven’t changed after being exposed. Like… TripAdvisor being entirely schooled by FakeReviews and saying “Nope, not our fault, not an issue!” Like… Professional Scientific Journals publishing a “Research Paper” about Medichlorians with a bibliography that admits clearly “information has been plagiarized.” So… yeah. Some interesting stories in there but maybe not the best pick me up.

  • 5 Dangers The Media Blew Ridiculously Out Of Proportion is a Cracked.com article about the always important to understand ways that the Media tries to keep viewership up by doing stories on things that sound true and are getting internet attention but often are not true or are not as popular as expected. My favorite? Tide Pod Challenge. This wasn’t even a NEW thing but it got enough traction on-line to now be considered something “that a large number of Millennials absolutely did” and has even become short-hand for why Millennials can/should be written off.

  • The Weekly for the last few weeks has been about United States Health Care. My Wife, who is learning empathy and social outrage wanted to have a big discussion about what she was seeing. WHY are Orphan drugs a billion dollar industry? WHY do companies get to raise the price of insulin 400%? WHY did Oxycontin not get more regulation after the Federal Government received a report in the early 2000s about how addictive and dangerous the medication was? Reason being: The United States isn’t a Capitalist Society or Socialist Society or any of the nice terms we use to make ourselves feel good. The current United States System is GREED. The government doesn’t do enough to regulate Pharma because Pharma can either (1) help give them enough money to guarantee re-election and/or (2) if you or a member of your family are on the board/own stock, you aren’t going to hurt your own bottom line. Wife, compassionately, asked why Politicians would do that?! Even using the wording “How much money is enough for these people?!” The sad truth is… the answer to that question is “More.” We have the “more” illness in this country. If you can make 8 billion dollars and pay people well; or make 12 billion dollars and keep your employees on welfare… this country goes with 12 Billion. Does the company/individual really honestly need that extra 4 billion?? Usually not. But if you can make it, why not make it? That’s where we are these days. At least, that’s how it seems from these seats.

  • After reading some of Scottish Twitter, I’ve never wanted to visit there more than I do right this second. lol.

  • Seeing how many of these parents just… don’t. Like… I get that Meth is all-consuming. I get that the Criminal Lifestyle is hard to break out of. I get all of that. But (1) If you have kids, you need to take care of those kids. (2) If you have your children removed from you, continue to do drugs, have more kids, and neglect those kids… I am honestly bothered by the fact that we don’t live in a world where we can stop you. You should not get to have 13 babies just for all 13 to be taken from you because of your drug habit and neglectful parenting. And I appreciate that I need to blame myself for this a little, but something that really bothers me? But to see so many children born into these shitty environments and not to raise a child of my own in a more positive one? It really makes me kind of tear my hair out, a bit. Like… Idiocracy of the most extreme. You’re more dedicated to doing nothing with your life; but you have 9 offspring running around with your Genes and Neglectful Toxic Modeling. I got 0. We just 100% guaranteed the continuing propagation of the worst of humanity.

  • Baka! What a morning. Trying to work on Trial Stuff buuut… Termination of Parental Rights Case. Need to file on a mother who has persistently and permanently chosen a life of crime and drugs over her children. Working on that, Delinquency Case. Juvenile that is doing well on his probation, Department wants to withdraw. EXCEPT Victim’s mom says the boy is still causing problems. SO… what to do. THEN Warrant Request on parents getting high while watching their 7 year old.

FOLKS… take fucking care of your children!

Because remember… I’m getting all of these requests while preparing two trials. One in which a 2 year old was found blocks away from her house with no supervision sitting in the middle of the highway. One in which drugged out mom let her druggy boyfriend watch her daughters whom he (allegedly) molested. SO… that’s my professional world right now. Thus

FOLKS… take fucking care of your children!

  • The truest proof that Time Travel will not exist in my lifetime is the fact that I cannot definitely state that my Future Self has come back in time. Because I can tell you without a doubt that I would have left some “cheeky” clue to myself to say, “Dude.... totally.”

  • As toooo often happens, I over worked my brain at work today. Between writing for Indictments, prepping for trials, prepping for hearings, managing phone calls, and reviewing abuse notes… I’m to that place where I’m passively thinking, actively day dreaming, and my eyes are just skimming over words. Hopefully, no emergencies for the end of the day!

  • OH, silly me.

. I forgot to come to Prosebox with this… I think. Maybe I mentioned it already. So… first… Wife wants to learn how to do gardening and landscaping stuff because her new obsession is that she wants the outside of our house to look good. I could read all sorts of things into that, but at present I won’t. Though with that being said… we had some bizarre water mishap in our basement. It is pretty strange and honestly now makes me worried about having guests stay down there. But other than ripping up all of the carpet in that room; I don’t know how to investigate the strange event of “water from below.”

You put in carpet without a sump pump / french drain? Iowa must be different than Michigan. In Michigan it's just assumed that basements will always flood unless you put in the fancy stuff.

I was just going to ask if you had a sump pump in the basement, others beat me to it. You probably should investigate where it is coming from?
