with or without you in poetry

if you believe in anything
beyond this mayfly short life
I’m not saying there isn’t or is
don’t believe that you can worship it
with pretty words or sacrifice or prayers
let alone by having power or owning stuff
you worship it by loving each other
that’s the only thing it hears
if it’s there at all and
if it isn’t there at all
just do it because it’s
what you’d want too
maybe others will
do so unto you
crazier things
have happened
