Second day of developing the habits. A bit more progress than the first day but still needs a lot of improvement.
1. WAKE UP ON THE 1ST ALARM. Just like yesterday, I did wake up on the first alarm, but I still did not get up until a while later. Thankfully, I reduced that time to 45 minutes. To me, that’s progress. I just need to keep reducing it until my body gets use to getting up within 10 minutes of the 1st alarm. To me, this is still a unsuccessful, but I’m glad I’m seeing progress in my trials.
2. CHANT 30 MINUTES IN THE MORNING & NIGHT. I didn’t even get to chant at all. I’m currently living with my family until winter break is over and then I go back to my apartment near my school. Being with family makes it difficult for me to focus and make time for personal goals because I have to be mindful of everyone’s time, beliefs (I’m the only Buddhist in the family), and what they want from me. I suddenly remembered why I bought an apartment: to have my own space for privacy and personal development. Overall, I did not succeed this goal today.
3. EXERCISE IN THE MORNING. This one was not a success today either, but I am freaking determined to get this going. I recently found my teenage journals today and reading them made me remember how I use to love running and walking every morning because of the fresh cool air and meeting all the other runners and walkers at the park. I need to set a fixed date, meaning I have to do it no matter what, to start this. The date will be Sunday, 1/6/2019.
4. BECOME FLEXITARIAN. I actually succeeded this one! Unfortunately, it made me realize something crucial: I eat more with others than when I am by myself. I am literally satisfied with just tea and apple slices dipped in peanut butter in the morning, a small salad during lunch, and a really simple sandwich for dinner. By myself, my portion size is just a saucer plate, but with others, it turns to a saucer plate. Note to self: be mindful of portions.
5. SLEEP MORE. I didn’t succeed in this one, but I did sleep more than yesterday. I probably fell asleep around 11:00 PM and woke up at 4:00 AM, so I slept around 4-5 hours this time. Remember, my goal is to at least get 6 hours of sleep this time.
6. READ A FEW PAGES OF A BOOK EVERYDAY. I still did not succeed this one, but I finally found a book I want to read. I’ve already it, but I feel like I’ve forgotten most of the information in the book because I have not been practicing or executing the useful tips in there. The book is called “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki. I read the book over a year ago, and is the inspiration to my Wealth Goals, which I will create a book for in this cool website soon.
7. ONLY DRINK WATER. Success! This goal is fairly easy for me to achieve, but I still have the temptation to go and drink other types of beverages. For example, my little sister is going to be turning 21 this year and we were discussing on how to celebrate it even though it’s still several months away. While discussing, I realized I would not be able to drink with her on that special day. Oh well, I’ll just be the responsible sister and be the designated driver while she goes and have fun.
8. DO NOT EAT CANDY. Almost failed. Just like yesterday, I was tempted to eat a piece of candy from my colleague’s jar of candy. Also, when I arrived home, I saw my favorite chocolate confection on the dinner table. You have no idea how I struggled not to take a piece of that delicious chocolate. I made sure to stay away from the dinner table so that I wasn’t tempted to take a piece. My little sister also has a goal this year not to eat candy and she lost the fight to that chocolate. I feel like the dark forces in the universe is rising because of this, I better start doing some good things to counter it.
9. PLAN YOUR SCHEDULE AHEAD. I still haven’t bought a physical agenda, so I better make sure to put that on my To-Do List this weekend. After that, I’ll make sure to spend about an hour or two to organize and plan out how to achieve my goals throughout the year.
10. WRITE AN ENTRY EVERYDAY. Another success! I almost didn’t write though because I spent my time binge watching on Netflix sci-fi and anime movies when I finally got home. Thankfully, I remembered to write before I fell asleep.
Personal Summary Analysis: I accomplished 4/10 of the goals today. That is definitely progress. Once I start chanting and using a physical agenda, I think I’ll exponentially grow from there. Note to self: begin chanting and buy that agenda this weekend.
