California is burning
my heart hurts like my lungs
as they fill with smoke
and somehow there is also numbness
it will keep getting worse
the roaring flames will eventually take everything
everything will stay the same
but the setting sun will be blood red
I have met people that are changing the way I think about myself
and I have a very intense feeling that I am at a crossroads
the decisions I make now will effect me for the rest of my life
it is sometimes to much of a burden to bear, I think
why is it always in their eyes?
and freckles on their cheeks.
I do not care about faces, but I become enamored with souls.

California was burning because politics got in the way. Hopefully enough has burned now, that lawmakers will learn to care that the land must be maintained to minimize towns and forests becoming engulfed in flames.
