the big if in poetry

if there is a God and
if I get a face-to-face with Her or Him
though I’d have harsh words for such a Thing
dress down God for the horrors of this world
this life, the cruelties that God allows
I would thank God for music nonetheless
without music, this entire enterprise
would be wholly fucking unbearable
music is so incredibly beautiful
it makes this life hurt less
I’d have to give God that
though not a lot more
we will have words
