So I basically spent the past week in Boston. My friend K had won accommodations at the Boston Plaza for the Boston Fantasy Fest so we decided to go up a few days before and stay a few days after. We left last Wednesday night. We had weird flight times bc it was cheaper. So our flight was supposed to leave at like 9 on Wednesday but got delayed until like 10:30. So it was after 2am there when we landed and like 3am before we got to our airbnb and got settled. We stayed in Salem Wednesday and Thursday nights. We slept in real late that first day and took an uber into Salem and went a few places then walked back.
We went to a pub and I had a pineapple jalapeno cider that was amazing. We went to a witch museum and we went to a little shop and bought rings and I got a tarot reading. It was actually pretty weird and aligned. Talking about how I’m finally on the path to making myself happy and how I’m dealing with someone who just isn’t understanding me and that if there was anything I wanted I needed to put it out there by Tuesday. I’m not sure I accomplished the last part, but I tried.
The next day we had witch pictures made and ate at a yummy breakfast place. We went into Boston after that to stay at the plaza for the next 2 nights. Friday night there was a meet and greet for the fest at 7 so we went to that. It was fun. We went to our room after and didn’t really do much that night. The next morning we went to a couple of the panels though they were more geared towards people who write. There was a kewl panel where this stunt guy was doing a choreographed fight scene to explain how 3 pages of writing can turn into like 15 seconds of fighting. He was really funny. I added him on fb and messaged him to say as much and he was all thanks for the add come chat after this panel. Only issue was me and K had skipped the last panel and gone to our room, so we got up and went back down just to chat with him. It was nice. Then a friend of mine who I met through my ex hubby met us at the hotel and walked us around a bit. We ate dinner and eventually walked back to the hotel. He came up with us and talked til after 1am before I finally walked him down. It was a lot of fun. I haven’t seen him in like 6 years.
Sunday was pretty awesome. We skipped the morning panels and slept in. Then we went to all the signing stuff and bought a bunch of books. K bought a ton… I think I bought 6. Then later we had the VIP party in the presidential suite and there was a ton of food and wine and all the authors were really awesome. Then there was an after party down in the lobby. We met a really kewl author Angela Roquet who gave us her leftover books for us and our book club. She was really nice and gave us a bunch of swag like pens and bookmarks and rubber bracelets. When it was all said and done we filled 2 suitcases with books between what we bought and what she gave us. Most of it was what K bought.
Then we stayed in Winthrop the last 2 nights. On Monday we met up with another friend up there. Saw his wife and daughter briefly and then she took the baby home for a nap and he stayed at the restaurant drinking beer with us. He and I were like 5 beers in. Afterwards his wife picked all of us up and dropped me and K at the train. His wife is like 7 months preggo so no drinking for her. We stopped at Park St and did a little shopping before heading back. We tried to get to bed at a decent hour but it was still like 11 before I fell asleep and then we had to get up at 3:30 to catch an uber to the airport to catch our 5:30 flight. It was like 7am Nashville time when we got home. My ex hubby picked us up and took me to my car at my sister’s house and I left straight from there to go to work. So Tuesday was a long day… especially since I made plans to go to the brewery that night.
Also been talking to a guy K knows recently. He’s been nice enough but it’s just messaging on fb and won’t be anything more. He’s a little high too often for my tastes.

Pineapple jalapeno cider sounds interesting. I'd like to try it, but I won't promise I'll like it.
