An Older Sister's Love in Days of My Destiny

Tonight I wish to acknowledge an older sister’s love. No, not just any older sister’s love, but MY older sister’s love.

The way it can sustain you without having to see her face.

The way she can go over your experiences, a million and one times in one year, for ten or twenty years or more, and how you can gain new insights each and every time.

The way she knows exactly how you feel when you silently mouth something to her.

The way she goes through similar situations at times, and you both know that you hold each other’s hearts and minds in a safe way through it.

The way she holds your heart and mind in a safe way, even when she may not understand or experience the same thing as you.

The way she buys you a type of tea at random, or sends a teabag to you with a little note attached.

The way your flaws are all laid bare and how none of it matters.

The way you can suddenly remember the funny faces she’d pull at you when you were a kid, and it still makes you laugh as if you were still that same kid, as if no years have passed.

The way you are now taller than her, even though once she seemed as tall as a skyrise to you, and that memory warms your heart.

The way you can hear her singing voice in your mind, and it soothes you.

The way her soft curvy body moves around in her own home as she cooks a meal, and you feel Mothered inside.

The way you can send her something funny specifically to only her inbox, knowing it will make her laugh more than anyone else you know.

The way she knows everything about you, even the things you don’t know about you, because she has known you since the day you were born.

The way she is present for you, focused on your words and providing both a listening ear and possible solutions, suggestions, ideas or reassurances.

The way she cares for others in her life, people you know you wouldn’t be able to care for, and the way you admire that about her.

The way she embraces everyone, quirks and warts and all, and you admire this about her too.

The way she loves her child, a love that comes from the deepest well within, and you know her daughter will be well, and it makes you proud to the point of tears when you really sit and meditate upon this.

The way she has realisations and shares them with you.

The way you can both grieve together, no matter how many years since an incident.

The way she cuts her own hair and looks stylish for it.

The way she can be your best friend no matter the distance.

The way her faith journey encourages you on your own.

Yes, an older sister’s love is truly amazing, and I know the depth of my blessing. <3

How wonderful to read. I am the oldest sister of three and I have always called that the KICK ME SEAT.
Sisters when life treats them badly and after the parents die so often come to the oldest one who was in childhood the little mother to them and if she gives good advice or bad, when things don't work out...she finds herself in the kick me seat!

But you are given the seat of honor and I salute your sister and you, both.

You capture a sister's bond so well. I adore all of my sisters and am the oldest and would lasso the moon for each of them if that's what it takes to keep them safe and happy and well and smiling. Sisters are so precious! What a beautiful piece! Thank you for sharing that!!!
