OUR BERLIN WALL in Postcards 4

This is a photograph of one of the Border Wall Prototypes just this side of Tijuana. Photographed by John Gibbons for the San Diego Union Tribune. The article shows all eight wall samples in their massiveness.
I slightly ignored the news yesterday, and we went to bed before the news at ten. This morning, every channel was filled with film of Trump heading our way to view the prototypes. Here he is boarding Air Force One. There are the troops following him from another copter. Here are the protests against the wall, and another one, and yet another one. One spot had a small gathering of supporters too.
I do not want this Berlin Wall in our backyard. I’m not out there marching. I couldn’t get very far. I could paint the signs. I can write here. I can post pictures. I can remind you yet again that our crops need picking and there is no one to do this. I agree we need new immigration policies. I do not think we need a massive wall.

A wall is a stupid and ugly idea. I'm conscious of Canadian friends who complain about illeal immigrants across their southern border. They're talking about US citizens coming in illegally.
What would we say if they built a wall in an attempt to solve that problem?

The Wall is not sensible in so many ways and places . He must have terrible advisors or is too stupid to listen . What they need is to completely reorganize immigration and police it more effectively . A wall is certainly the lowest tech , least effective way to monitor the borders :-(

I also feel anyone’s politics are fine to be voiced whatever . When we can’t speak our minds and feelings without being shamed, insulted, or belittled then we have truly lost our freedom and we are taking it away from each other. In a civilized society people agree to be able to disagree without being angry at each other .

I so agree. The wall is a misuse of funds and yet another alienation of a neighboring country. I also think it is racist. Canadians come for tech jobs and yet you don't see him trying to build a wall along that border. I am not anti-Canadian, I'm just saying this particular wall is selective. A more enlightened border policy is definitely needed and we need to work with our neighbors to find workable solutions.

What a shame that wall is...an offense to humanity. Trump is all over our news today for bragging about lying to Justin Trudeau.
