Two roads diverged
in a tortured metaphor
and neither could be chosen.
The roads, you see
were fractured possibilities
of a future yet to be created.
Being the traveler,
I could not select
which path I would have preferred.
There was an obvious choice
to which I gave enthusiastic voice
but such things are not for mortals.

As no mortal could make the choice
I could only plan, prepare for what may come.
When I say plan, prepare, I should be more specific.
Down one road, there was the realm that I could only
but fantasize. Not plan, but dream of what possibilities
may await.
Down one road, there was the realm that I was too
familiar with. The plan, for what it was, would be a plan
of survival.

Down the first road
I imagined financial comfort
living in a house
auditioning for plays
becoming fit
becoming happier and healthier.

Down the second road
I imagined continue struggle
hopping from apartments
slaving for pennies
being drained more every day.

Hope in one hand
Life in the other
Which one weighs the most?
