Raking in Stuff

I just bought the kids Christmas stockings with their photos on them because they’re so ridiculous I thought it was funny.
This evening will be a leaf-raking extravaganza. I’ve told all three of them to make sure they are available tonight for raking. We’re going to attack the yard in one concentrated force and get it all over with. I have a strong suspicion that if Megan sees us out there she will come join us. The more the better. I won’t feel guilty about having her work, she loves exercise.
The kids always ask why we don’t just pay someone to do this and I laugh them off and say that’s why I have them.
One we’re done we’ll go to Cambridge and have a nice dinner and get some hot chocolate. It sounds like a Normal Rockwell painting, but it’s an important event each year. And it may be harder and harder to get this to happen in the next few years as the kids get older.

It is like a tradition you have started. Yeah probably as they get older they will be less thrilled, but I think what is cool about these kinds of things is the constituency. One day when they are adult and or have kids of their own they will remember this special time you all shared. Memory Making..
