Back in February I received a DUI after dropping my friend off at her house. I turned on to Fruit St. and was about to get onto the freeway and saw a cop flip a bitch and turn his lights off. I have never been so scared in my entire life. He told me to step out of the car because he smelt alcohol on my breath. I admitted I had a few drinks earlier in the night but that I was of legal drinking age and would not have gotten behind the wheel if I was inebriated. He called for back up and they did a few field tests on me, said I was doing fine but they wanted me to do the breathalyzer. They used three different ones on me and said "Oh they aren't working right." They told me to sit down on the curb and put my hands on my head and I felt the handcuffs go on me and the officer escorted me into the back of his vehicle and took me to jail. It was around 2 in the morning, and he admitted that was the only reason he pulled me over because he figured I was probably drunk. The next 8 hours were absolutely horrendous. At 4 in the morning, the nurse finally came in to take a blood test and the officer made me write a letter apoligizing to the judge for drinking and driving. Then they threw me in the cell and gave me a nasty blanket to sleep with and there were some dirty mats on the ground. The toilet was full of throw up, shit, and piss so I didn't even think about using it. Overall, it was just horrible and I would never even have a sip of alcohol before getting behind the wheel because they seriously have zero tolerance which I understand. My best friend died in a drunk-driving accident, I know how bad being drunk and driving is. But I also know, I was not drunk and wouldn't have gotten in my vehicle if I was. Court date was last Wednesday. I have a lot of fines to pay and 160 hours of community service and I have a suspended license until September. Oh and I have to take DUI classes. They told me I was "lucky" I didn't get it past July 1st because there is a new law that first time DUI offenses will require one of those breathalyzer things that you have to blow into to start your car.

Anyways, so I have still been driving because I need to get to work and stuff. I stay at my friends house on the weekend that lives by my work so I don't have to be driving around too much. Well I told her she could drive my car because we had to go to the store and I didn't want to risk driving. We went down Fruit street and what do you know? A cop car is chillin and when we drive by, flips a bitch and I could tell he was running the plates. Sure enough, lights go on and we have to pull over. He runs Andreas license and then asks me to step outside of the car. Apparently because Andrea got a bunch of tickets, her license was suspended and we had no idea. So they ARREST her and take her to jail and tow my car. But inform me that since I do not have a license, I will have to go to the DMV to get it reinstated for one day in order to get my car out of the lot. I have 30 days to get it out and if I wait it will cost around 1400 bucks. So of course the DMV is closed on the weekends because of the budget cuts..so I have a huge mess to deal with on Monday. Plus I have to go get registered for my DUI classes, plus all my community service. Andrea got out of jail within a few hours and now she has a misdemeanor too. Basically, I can't wait to just sell my car. It is more trouble driving than it is worth.
