Target in The ugly truth about making babies

You guys, I’ve hit my target weight! Totally unexpectedly, given that I’d had a few gin and tonics last night while sat in the sun. But there it was, 81.3kg on the scale this morning!

We see our consultant on 6th June so I have another 10 days to drop a little more, I’d like to be at least 80kg when we see him. I was 94kg in the new year, and 88kg when we saw him at the beginning of April. I’m now 81kg!!! That’s 13kg, or 2 stone. 2 stone! I haven’t been this slim in a long time, and to be fair I still have a way to go. This was just the target set by the doc so that we would be eligible for treatment on the NHS.

I have a personal target of 70kg or at least low 70s, so would like to drop another 10kg, unless I start feeling like I’ve got that look that people get when they start looking drawn. I feel like it’s achievable. Slimming world has been so easy, and not having to fork out ten grand for one cycle of ivf has been a real incentive.

I feel like I have some momentum now, I feel like I’m getting somewhere. I’m really enjoying my swimming and feel like, should I end up pregnant, that’s something I could maintain. I always feel really good when I come out. Knackered but good. The running not so much. I can do it, I hate it while I’m doing it, it’s really not something I enjoy. I’m getting faster and walking less which I like, and I feel good when I’ve been, probably because I know it’s done!

I’m not gonna lie, people are noticing that I’ve lost weight and I’ve had so many compliments from my lovely colleagues. I think because they know I’m working hard and why I’m doing it, it must be nice for them to see me achieving it too. God knows they’ve put up with me moaning about it long enough. I’m glad I’ve been honest with everyone about it because the support really has been invaluable.

So now we look forward to the 6th June and seeing what that brings. Hopefully a date for the information session with the consultant, although I might ring the specialist nurse next week and see if we can get booked onto the June one. They only happen once a month and it would be two days after our appointment, so it would be nice to know before then if we could book on.

Also we should receive our referral at that appointment to Liverpool women’s, so we’ll hear from them about a date to go and meet them. We’re away the first two weeks in august, and would be hoping to start treatment some time between the end of August and Christmas. It’s amazing to think that we’re now at this point.

Xx

Oh well done - it's taken so much work to get there, and when faced with night shifts too, I think you have put in phenomenal effort! Keep it up!

Slimming world, forcing myself to run when I didn't want to, swimming, and sheer bloody determination. If we've been out i haven't worried about what I'm having, but at home and for work I've stuck religiously to slimmers and it's paying off at last! It's bloody hard work being organised and I feel like a bore like it's all i talk about, it sounds cliche but I've literally had to obsess over it and commit to it totally. It helps to have an incentive, and ivf is a pretty big incentive! Xx
