I went to see it with my mom this past weekend and it was a really great movie.
The movie, though, touched me in ways that good movies usually do (I’m a very visual person) in an emotional soft-spot. And not a good one.
The plot isn’t the usual one; it’s about Tarzan and Jane after they’ve relocated to England and go back to Africa to save the world. It’s the opposite story than the original really; man-to-beast instead of beast-to-man. But, that’s not really what was interesting to me.
The interesting part to me was that in this version, Tarzan and Jane are married, and share an unbreakable bond of love, throughout the story. Even something as mundane (though extremely heartbreaking) as a miscarriage, they are together and strong; and even through perilous African wilds and their greatest nemesis they are unquestionably together. The biggest things here to me is uncompromising faithfulness, boundless enthusiastic love, and joyous celebration of their union.
In conclusion, like always it’s a love story.
And I’m jealous. Peevishly so. I can’t stop thinking about how jealous I really am. And it’s not a good feeling.
