I Apologize For Putting This Burden on You in The Kid Used To Dream

That’s what someone said to me today.

If you saw the post the other day where someone said a church goer told them they were a disappointment for playing church music and country music - today’s entry is going to make you think.

If you follow my entries you know I do advocacy work for people with disabilities. Today, I am talking to someone that had been referred to me. I am getting their story and asking them some questions. He kept referring to his husband.

At some point he said - it my marital situation offends you I do apologize. I also apologize for putting this burden on you. You probably don’t agree with it.

Is this what we’ve reduced humanity to?

He didn’t owe me an apology and what he told me was absolutely not a burden.

So, one musician gets shammed for playing in the church and playing country music.

This guy feels the need to apologize to someone because they know they are a Christian.

I said - sir, your life is yours to freely live the way you feel is right by you. You don’t owe me or anyone else an apology. As a matter of fact I feel like you have probably walked thru a version of hell that too many people couldn’t. I wasn’t put on this earth to judge you.

Then he said - and having come out of that torment I still choose to live as a Christian.

I’m at a loss for words.. I’m sad … But grateful that I don’t ascribe to living a life hating others.
