So, I found some gear on marketplace that I really wanted. I messaged the guy. He messaged back.
One problem - his profile was cryptic. Meaning, it gave a name and no picture - and his profile was blocked.
I managed a meetup at a storage unit… I know - red flag.
He tells me he’s leaving town today - second red flag.
He gave me a phone number - cell with no digital footprint - Third red flag.
I was about to write it off as a scam but instead I took some of the video he made that only showed his hands. I loaded it into an AI prompt. I told it to look for musicians in that area with similar tattoos, and name. The AI found him.
Turned out he was pretty popular. His band has over 120k followers…so, legit.
Turned out - he was a great guy and didn’t have room for the gear he sold me.
Oh, and I think I may have talked myself into a new car instead of a used one - but I’ll post about that later.
