Who really really despises AI images?
With how freakish they look. I feel something indescribably horrible when I look at them. It’s like a deformed creature putting on a human suit. And not a good one. Like they tore the rotting flesh off of someone who actually did look beautiful, once, maybe, and didn’t tan it or anything just threw the rotting skin over an alien angled mess and then used all sorts of media magic to make it shiny. But it still looks like that. It looks grisly.
You know what it reminds me of?
There is a scene in one of Frank Herbert’s novels about the robots on earth who have enslaved humanity. There is this one robot that thinks it’s individuated in some way because it spent so much time without an update- it got stuck in a cave or something for a few hundred years. And now it is attempting to do “art”. But it can’t, you see because it’s entirely inhuman. It probably could do things, other things, but not human things. It does art by ripping out viscera from people and throwing them in tubs of blood and gore.
That’s what AI images remind me of.
I’m not saying that’s what they are, but that certainly is the feeling that I get when I look at it.
And I’m very glad that people warn of an image being AI before I look at it. Because, I won’t.
