Things didn’t get more dangerous for any inevitable reason. They got more dangerous as it was profitable to pretend things were more dangerous then the paranoia from the marketing made it real. It was never minorities or freethinkers or new ideas, it was Big Business at the helm.

Star Wars’ sequels are bad, as they were creatively incoherent but at least they were structured & looked like movies. Prequels are bad, as they were the work of a man driven mad by success, trying to prove himself an auteur while still selling toys. I’ll take the former, thanks.
