Lemony Snicket's in The Kid Used To Dream

Didn’t get to leave home at 3pm on Thursday like I wanted. My ride or die companion kept working until 7. My 3 hour drive to Nashville put me at the hotel at midnight after I stopped for a bathroom break and then for dinner.

It was probably more like 2am when we finally laid down. I knew better than to sleep at all. I was exhausted and the last few days I had been battling this weird thought of dying. Like, turn on the TV and at that exact moment talked about an accident. Then, I would just have these overwhelming thoughts of a car accident, plane crashing, getting in the middle of someone else’s situation and catching a bullet. This is not me. I don’t have thoughts like this.

So, I am getting ready to lay down and whisper a prayer. Please at least let me say goodbye to some folks before you bring me home.

We had a 330am alarm. I actually had a 330, 345 and 415am alarm. My ride or die - had a 3am.

Neither of us heard the alarms and we missed our flight. Flight left at 638. We simultaneously woke up at 615.

But - I never lost my cool about it. I had the most overwhelming peace I’ve ever encountered during an unknown situation. I calmly gathered my things and we left for the airport.

The person at the ticket counter couldn’t have been more pleasant. She helped us and got us another flight. The only thing it cost me was I had Row 4 seats on the original - this one stuck me about 7 rows or so from the back. They made us check both our carry-ons except for 1 bag each and we didn’t get to sit together.

The tickets had us flying between 2 airlines because the major airline didn’t service the destination. We were told that when we arrived in Charlotte - go to the gate of the other airline and they’ll print you another ticket. Here’s the new timeline:

Rather than leaving Nashville at 630 and arriving in Charlotte at 9ish and then on to the destination at 11… We left Nashville at 9, reached Charlotte at noon and our destination flight didn’t leave until 430. The layover from Hades.

We arrived and walked straight to the gate (15 minute walk). The agent said - I see you in the system but it won’t let me print the boarding pass because when you missed your flight the reservation was cancelled. GULP!

HOWEVER - I’m still calm. We decided to walk around and find something to each so I could charge my phone and call Priceline about it. They inevitably told me that the airline cancelled it and that I should go to the original airline that printed my boarding pass. Off we go on another 15 walk to learn that - They can’t fix it. Still, I am calm and I ask the lady - I bet someone like you knows a person that knows a person we might could ask. She was on the phone for a little while when she printed out the receipt from that morning. I was starting to worry because all I had was my 2 carry-ons. My checked back was on its way to the destination.

We go back to the gate and I handed a different person the receipt. I also said - I hope someone is taking notice of how respectful and calm I have been throughout this ordeal. Honestly, I was getting worried about my checked bag and getting to be the destination. She said - Oh, I already took notice and trust me, I’m about to do everything I can to help you get on this flight. Between herself and another guy - they saved the day. Oh, and guess which seat I got - Row 4.

I also found out that Hercules himself (which is also in the movie) was on our flight. I got to shake hands and small talk for minute… he is genuinely a nice guy.

We arrived at the destination and apparently was the last flight. I found out within about 45 minutes that Uber had no one in the area. I did manage to find a cab company. We sat in the terminal with the night crew waiting on us to leave so they could lock the doors.

I missed the orientation and the evening events that helped acclimate all the cast to their assignments. But - I had an okay day.

When I woke up late and realized I’d missed my original flight - all the fear left and peace set in and it’s been an amazing natural high all day.

Cast call is at 830am … I had best rest or I may miss another alarm!
