I want to make the world forget in The Kid Used To Dream

I write music to help me forget the pain of my past. I write it and perform it hoping that whoever hears it will forget theirs.

I study comedy and timing to help me deliver in a way that draws in an audience. I want them to only remember the peace that laughter brings.

For me, music and laughter is not an escape but a way to accept. If I can change the emotions of a person and help them through a difficult situation it numbs me to my own pain and struggles.

Life has a way of taking a dagger and driving it deeper and deeper and deeper. The guilt and the hurt and the shame of circumstances you grew up in and experience just nags at you over and over.

But for that 3 minutes that you’re in the middle of a song talking about how faith and strength and love gets you through it - and you witness Ace from behind the microphone. Tears flowing down cheeks and smiles through the pain for a small fraction of a second you forget yours.

When you are sharing shameful event that relates to an audience and they are laughing because you are showing no emotion through what should be an embarrassing moment - it’s like a medicine that acts quicker than anything you’ve ever taken.

You begin to realize that you are addicted to encouragement. You are addicted to being the footstool it helps someone else get over the hurdle. Through that addiction, you may never heal of your own hurts, but at least you don’t feel them.
