Work and Play in The Kid Used To Dream

This week I had a meeting out of town in an area I’m familiar with but don’t go to much. The meeting was met with a lot of technical setbacks but everyone sort of took it in stride and made the best of it.

On a side note my nutritionist is going to be upset with me - but I’ll get to that later.

I had planned to stay an extra night and invited some company. It was a bit of a celebration of friendship of sorts.

It was probably the most peaceful work trip I’ve had in a long time. The area near the hotel was nice. The area was safe and almost utopian because the town is known for crime - but it was like no one knew this area was there. There were townhomes and restaurants…and we walked all over and never saw law enforcement or anything that would have made us feel unsafe. It was like being in a large downtown area without all the chaos. It reminded me of Sesame Street. That’s the best way to describe it.

Of course, while I’m enjoying a small lunch of sushi my producer texts me that I’m to report back to Nashville for a video shoot in December - I’m excited but at the moment I wasn’t caring about it. I was in a peaceful place. One reason I wasn’t excited is because - as an independent artist my management co is responsible for some of the bill so I have to figure all that out.

Dinner that night was amazing. I took her to one of her favorite restaurants. The dim lights, raw oysters and she wanted a fillet - and that’s what she got! I surprised her with creme brulee for when we got back to the room.

I hesitated to mention any of this in this post because there’s so many people that have no one. That genuinely makes me sad. I don’t believe I deserve what I have in life and so most of the time I keep it to myself because I don’t want to be seen as someone rubbing it in someone else’s face. I also feel that doing that probably makes me an even bigger idiot. I just wanted to share it in my journal that you get to read. This was a happy moment for me. I got to spend the next day walking and exploring different shops and tasting different foods - I may have finally figured out how to live. May sound silly to you - but me enjoying downtime is unheard of… Until now.

I did gain 3 lbs …my nutritionist is going to be livid - but my excuse - creme brulee was involved and that’s all I can say about that.
