Our Youth Manager just told me that my position will likely be changing soon. I am not being utilized properly with my talents.
He told me this after I flagged something in my team. Not to be a tattletale, but I had to let him know that our part-time mentor is dating his boss’s sister (our coordinator). Then I explained how my coordinator would move mountains for him whenever he was late or didn’t show up for a shift. I want that to be monitored because he was late yesterday. I asked him to pick up a participant on his way in, as this kid lives in his neighborhood, and he wouldn’t. Then he shows up late. There are other times when he doesn’t show up at all, and I witness him not even make it up. Then I threw my coordinator under the bus with his unlimited “banked time.” This means he accumulated overtime and then bleeds it out later, usually when we are supposed to have a program. The math ain’t ever mathing with him.
The Youth Manager promised me that his goal isn’t to fire my boss, but he intends to have me join the management team. Best-case scenario, he will just make me switch roles with my coordinator, who is like a brother to me. I do not want to leave my boys in my program.
Anyway, I leave for BC tomorrow. I got butterflies. Ugh.
