Busy, busy, busy in The Kid Used To Dream

The past 2 days were work, fun and something new. It’s 4am and I have a 9am wake up so the next few days are gonna be rough! I have a private event tonight where I go on at 8. I have 2 events tomorrow with quite a bit of traveling in between.

So, hotel the past 2 days, one day at home (barely) and then hotel again. I’m not complaining - I honestly can’t wait to meet some new friends that will be at the events.

I did have a unique thing to happen. I met my producer Thursday night. He messaged and said - let’s meet downtown Nashville and grab something to eat. Well, I can’t stand downtown and lucky for me there were 2 concerts happening across the street from one another so he said - find something and I’ll be there. So, I hit google and found a unique lounge with a 60s vibe and upscale finger foods and text him and said - we’ll meet you there.

Three of us met there and it was really cool. It was very laid back, 60s, low lit, fun ambience and unique - tucked outside of town away from the crowds. We had some great food and apparently the Old Fashions were good - he had 4!

The next morning I was going to text my photographer and ask if he’d ever heard of it and googled how to describe it - turns out - it was, as Google described it, “queer and minority owned inclusive lounge serving upscale bar food with retro vibes.” I’d never been to a lounge that catered to LGBTQ and invited openness and gender fluid restrooms… I’m really glad we went. I am conservative and Christian but I have never felt it was my place to look down on or judge anyone who isn’t OR who is but has different beliefs than I do. It’s never been my nature to look down my nose at other faiths. I can’t imagine going thru life knowing that almost everyone you meet is overly judgemental and condemning over something you don’t have much if any control over. How lonely that must feel? Then, if you find a place like this how a ton of pressure would be lifted…

You know how you can be at a lounge or bar and recognize at least one person that doesn’t seem to be enjoying life? That one person sitting alone, drinking and just watching the room? Well, there was none of that here. It felt like every person there was living freely and happy. Ain’t that the thing that we all should be doing? Just enjoying one another’s company and life itself?

Well - imma try to sleep for a few minutes before I have to hit the road again. I do hope everyone has a great weekend..
