You could easily start calling Easter “Furry Halloween”. It’d be funny! The problem is, you might give them the idea to take the idea seriously. The problem with good satire is it’s so close to real that people might try to unironically run with it.

The bitter irony of the inevitable holiday viral surge, what brings us together also makes us sick and kills us. The comparison to the current wars raging over antiquated notions of religious and ethnic identity seems apt. Pull together in the old ways and death follows.

I’m old enough where every time I see a Hellfire Club reference, I first think it’s an X Men thing not a Stranger Things… thing. Of course, every time I see “BTS” I think they’re talking about Built to Spill, not those k-pop Bangstreet Boys or whatever.

If you see things differently than the consensus, that can be great, but if you get locked in to that one perspective, you’ll end up just as bad as what you rebelled against. The ability to pivot with new facts & new conditions, to your last breath, that’s actual intelligence.

Whenever people refer to punching the numbers that make the spark boxes work as “coding” I always first hear it as “SHE’S CODING, SHE’S CODING!” in a bad medical drama. Like, learning how to flatline. While I continue trying to learn how not to.

How did they never name one of the sequels to Bad Boys “Worse Boys”? It seems like an unforced error.
