Rail is the only civilized way to travel short-to-medium distances. If Amtrak were properly funded, it would be absolutely amazing. The fault is not in Amtrak, it’s in politicians who refuse to fund it because they’re owned by the oil and auto industries.

you're not wrong about that last one, there could easily be an awesome transportation infrastructure if taxes (mostly from the exorbitantly wealthy because they have not been paying their fair share) went to funding it rather than making more bombs and guns and various other instruments of war.
