You know how I’ve just been… abysmally down about work lately?
They’ve started “a long over due” construction issue.
Which means, around our offices, loud machines active throughout the entire day.
But worse?
“This process will finally address the asbestos in the building. We understand that this process may release asbestos into the air; but rest assured, we are using air filters and air purifiers to address the concern.”
Consider my concern unaddressed. It is 2024. (1) You are telling me that this building is still riddled with asbestos? THAT ALONE should be enough cause for concern. But (2) You’re telling me that you are addressing it by TURNING IT INTO SMALL AIRBORNE PARTICLES and just having us report in to work and to our offices like normal? Y’know- before, I figured nobody gave a shit about us because this office hasn’t been fully staffed since before the pandemic. This additional “and fuck you for breathing” is just… an added emphasis to that I did not need!

Guess it's time to go back to masking at the office!

omg asbestos removal is 739957558x more dangerous than just leaving it. seriously, do not report to work if at all possible!! I worked at a large chain bookstore that was doing construction that involved "releasing small particles of asbestos but don't worry" and we were like lol OSHA and we didn't have to deal with it.

Make a call to OSHA and report it. Save all communications and submit them. Call the Department of Health, too.

Are they for real? Report them and refuse to go into the building. That's insane expecting you to to literally sacrifice your health for work.

Asbestos is not overly dangerous unless they start breaking it up and doing renos or removing it. I dont think anyone without proper PPE should be in the building while this is happening. Jmo
Take care,
