  1. It occurs me to how many younger people out there are eating Sour Patch Kids without making the connection that they’re a riff on Cabbage Patch Kids at all. While they may’ve heard of Cabbage Patch Kids, they never experienced the brief ubiquity that makes the reference obvious.

  2. The existence of Eggo waffles implies the existence of Supereggo waffles and Idd waffles.

  3. Also: what kind of spell checker doesn’t accept the contraction “may’ve”? That’s not accepted? Am I some kind of reverse Commander Data who uses too many contractions and I just don’t know it? It accepts “might’ve”! That’s basically the same thing!

  4. “Death of the author”, rejection of authorial intent, there is much to gain from that perspective but it depends what you do next. If you just put your own opinion, “head-canon”, on Author’s throne, you’ll just err in a different way. Cultural & historical context still matter.

  5. Communication, art, writing, is a dance. A dance with a dance partner. It’s half what you bring but the other half is allowing them to move their own feet in interpretation, evocation. You may even be leading but if you’re doing all the moves, that’s not a dance, that’s nothing.

  6. Do NOT confused Shel Silverstein’s “A Light In The Attic” and V.C. Andrews’ “Flowers In The Attic”. They are very very very VERY very very very different subject matters.

  7. A reality dating show where a bunch of conventionally attractive wanna-be actors and models are whisked away to a secluded site for sex and a chance at Z-level fame… but the secluded site is a toxic superfund site in western NY and it’s called LOVE CANAL ISLAND.

  8. I KID YOU NOT, HE’S A CAT THAT EATS LASAGNA AND HE’S CALLED GARFIELD. FUNNIEST SHIT I EVER SEEN.
