Mental health,
Religious people are mentally healthier than non-religious. After reading Deuteronomy again recently, I can’t help but think on the bit about how the why God wants his followers to obey His commands- so that it may go well with you for all time. The commands are instructions on how to live. How to be healthy. How to be happy. Hume said there is no ought from is- but he was a nihilist. The ought is built into life. If you want to live, you ought to follow these rules. If you want to be happy, you ought to… Etc.
More than that, the instructions for how to deal with morality is universally applicable. We are to do the Law, not say the Law. Those who know nothing of God or the bible who uphold the Law are regardless more Godly than anyone who knows the Bible but who doesn’t uphold the Law. So I think, by the standards of the bible, I as an atheist am Godly. I as an atheist practice God’s Law more consistently and seek it more deeply than certainly any Christian that I’ve ever met.
I have disdain for Christians in general because they are such obvious failures in their stated goals. They say they love Christ and what he stood for, they say they follow the bible and that it’s the true word of God. Yet not one of them that I’ve ever met has ever accepted correction as quoted from the bible. They’re all hypocrites. They’re all fake.
I’ve written before about the necessity of an empirical standard to sustain mental health. False Christians imo are more evil than blatant satanists. Because the false Christian claims to follow God. He is flasle representative of God to the world; displaying weakness, disease, immorality. And it is the false Christian that leads the innocent astray; the worst and most evil sin.
Job number one of a good person is to identify evil. Job #1. If a good person cannot identify evil, what for are they? Literally. What good are they. And just think of all the so-called Christians who claim they can’t judge anyone or anything.
Deuteronomy says do not judge lest ye be judged by the same laws. It is instruction to not be hypocrite! It’s not an instruction to be a worthless worm. Jesus Christ would be ashamed. Lol
Both my parents and DHs parents have accused me of being judgemental. Yes. I am, thank you. It’s ironic that they have to judge me as judgemental in order to condemn and shame me for it. They could easily have directed their efforts to bring consistent with their own judgements. But they did not. They chose to be evil and pathetic.
