Dissociation in Journal

DHs grandma and aunt came over the other day. DH was noticeably dissociated/distracted while they were here.
I pointed it out to him, today, and asked if he’d noticed. He said he did. And told me about a related dream he had last night.
It is painful to witness dissociation in someone I love. It makes me not want to be in situations that will trigger it. I like his grandma and aunt not at all as a consequence of their effect on him. Not just their effect, but their total lack of interest in DHs withdrawal or in his well being. They’re fine with him not being there. Not even. They’re fine that he erases his personality, his very self, around them. Maybe they even prefer it.

Maybe they don't even notice it.

Right.
It's kind of their job to notice how you affect people, especially people you claim to love. Especially those people who never chose to have them in their life, as is the case of children and family.
