If you don't write stuff down on a calendar, how will you remember what you did this week, this time next year? in Whey and Sonic Screwdrivers.

Find your microcycle, I like to say. Though, at times, it’s a matter of observing it. We all have a cycle, one way or another. The repeated actions we perform, sometimes with thought and sometimes without, that form the tapestry of our lives. That answer the question “so, what are you up to” but never in an satisfactory way to anyone who asks.

Microcycle is a borrowed lifting term. Refers to a short series of days, that are then repeated, sometimes with varied intensities or parameters. Most microcycles are a week long. However, some guys and gals run 6 or 8 or whatever day microcycles that are asynchronous with the week.

Generally my lifting week is, well, a week. It’s nice aligning when you lift with your off days. Or your work days.

Originally I had Saturday as my do-nothing day. Turns out that the gym is actually emptier on Saturday here (south of the Mason-Dixon Line) than it was in Jersey. So showing up to lift on Saturday is relatively relaxing. Yes, a busy gym will subconsciously effect my headspace. And I’m not even talking about the excess of eyecandy. Just having so many humans forces me to be more considerate with how long I use the squat rack, and limits my pacing path.

Some people ask what to do between sets. I pace.

Anyway.

Saturday; Wake up whenever, stopgap with some whey. Dawdle, dawdle, dawdle, and hopefully get to the gym before 5PM. (Today, got there before noon.) Either have pizza or Taco Bell, and hit up reasors for milk, bananas, ground turkey, (and eggs, if out). Today, I definitely got some quality hours in playing Sims4. A common complaint is the characters don’t feel as alive as they did in Sims2. Though, I think there’s a bit of nostalgia goggles going on.

The Sims was hella fun when we didn’t know what the fuck we were doing. But, that kind of goes for many games.

Yet, I don’t think I’ve masked out the careers in Sims4. It’s something to aspire towards.

Oh, I had the settings off, and one of my pregnant characters gave birth while I was at another house. CPU named her Danielle. I was annoyed at first, but then I realized it would golden opportunity to make another BIGGAYDAN origin story. (You can swap genders/pronouns/peestandingorsitting in the game.) For now, she’ll go by Dani.

Her parents are lesbatrons, and I don’t see why she can’t be a lesbasaurus, too. (Yes, lesbians can have bio kids.)

Saturday: Upper A
Sunday: Speed Pulls
Monday: Upper B
Tuesday: Squats/glutes
Wednesday: Upper C
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Rest

Unless things change, my days off from work are Wednesday and Saturday. So, I start and end my lifting ‘week’ on my off days. This is working okay from a mental standpoint. I sleep in Thursday and Friday - and they go rather fast as I’m already looking forward to my day off Saturday to hit the gym.

Always have something to look forward to.

Otherwise, my days are rather ordinary. I’m still checking youtube daily, wary I’ll miss something analytics dug up. Still playing Star Trek Timelines, a silly free-to-play facebook/steam/mobile game. Breakfast is either plain oatmeal or whey. Postworkout is either eggs and/or a pound of ground turkey. With a banana. If I need a little more, I’ll have a Bowl of Food™.

Just the beans/rice/meat/onions/peppers/rotel that I’ve been making for years. Fiber is good for you. Typically served with spinach, chips, sour cream, and cheese. Leafy greens are good for you.

I work evenings, so that’s most of what I eat. I know, right, how ordinary and bland? On the other hand, I’m easy to please. So while my bandwidth of foods I eat currently is small, I’m content eating them. So, I’d argue I’m the opposite of a picky eater.

A picky eater would want something different every time. : P

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I do hit threshold at times. I do listen to various cravings.

One does not simply resist taco bell.

Anyway, facebook memories brought up that I got my KIingon Empire this time last year. And it gave me a golden opportunity to see what kind of progress I’ve rought.

There are no shortcuts. Light weights and a short period of time will yield jack. Boys want everything now now now. Nope. I’m team strength. Get sufficiently strong enough and give it time, and you’ll look like someone who hits the gym five days a week.

We survived puberty without much nutrition knowledge. Give it time.

At least in certainly lighting, I finally look like I can write a check my ass can cash.

alt text

Oh, don’t know that line? “‘Cause your mouth’s writing checks that your ass can’t cash!” Ha ha. I still feel I need more strength to be able to pull a “Look, shut up, I know what I’m talking about.”

Though… I will so acknowledge that lifting has affected my posture. Now, I normally keep my shoulders back and down. But feeling just a touch bigger makes me feel more confident. Contrast that when I felt like a fat fuck, I probably carried myself with a far more negative aura.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but body composition doesn’t matter if you carry yourself like you got the biggest balls in the room.

But boy does it help.

…Actually, I’m still kinda fat. HA HA. It’s just all around my waist. And this one spot on my back inner thighs… (They chaff.) And a little on the back of my arms. …And a little under my chin.

Hey, I spend more time with this ugly bag of mostly water than you do. I know my deficiencies.

I’ve rolled the dice and can’t deny I have gained muscle. At the threshold of how much fat annoys me, but not quite ready to stop getting stronger.

Gosh, I’m glad I don’t entirely commit to formalized “I have a point” entries too much anymore. Heck, part of why I don’t write daily is because I’ll just tangent to all hell. I’m sorry I’m not always digestible.

Speaking of writing, I do spend a good portion of each day daydreaming about potentail characters and plot beats for my next novel. I do want to do some formal character sketches. Their likes, dislikes, potential arc to complete. Here’s hoping that tangenting works in my favor.

Anyway. I think I’ll youtube for a bit. Might still come back for some Sims4…
