When I was a wee teen, I would sometimes watch Bill O’Reilly and agree with him.

Gosh, I feel dirty even admitting that. Obviously I have evolved. I don’t even remember what I was agreeing with, I just remember enjoying his segments. Then again, it was the 90’s.

Thing is. It took one offhand comment by my dad to plant the seed of doubt. My dad is a political junkie, mind you. Or was. Always watched The News when it was on, like clockwork. I definitely picked up that habit in my own way. I stick to late night comedy - Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, and of course Jon Oliver.

Gosh, I really feel bad for all the writers for Jon Stewart’s rendition of The Daily Show. They had to actually WATCH fox news. Whenever I see that shit on, I feel a deep rage that makes me want to punch a republican in the gonads.

I digress.

But yeah, no secret I’m not a fan of my dad. But, all it took was one flippant comment by my dad to cause me to take a step back and, well. Wouldn’t say it made me the socialist I am today, but.

Eh, I have no witty conclusion. Here’s a random image from google images.

I applaud your politics. Socialism is misunderstood and confused with Communism which shows how in the USA there is much ignorance about such things. I just watched Jon Stewarts Apple TV show and it was good serious journalism. Much late night comedy is smarter than ... of course... Faux news etc. I never did like any of those people. I am probably older than your dad ;-)

My dad is in his seventies. My grandma? 90's. I decided to mask my public age, as people judge you based on age. Say something shocking when you are young, you're cool and hip. As I was. (I hope?) Say it when you are older, and somehow it takes on different meaning.

I am a 66 year old prick. I have to be proud of something in life these days ;-) My old guy thing is my schtick on here. I was amused a while back by all the baby boomer bashing. So... hey folks bring it! ;-)

As long as you don't pull a "if you finished college..." we're cool.

I'm 38. To think, I'm already playing up how olde I am. Intentional olde english 'e'.

Dude, I barely got through high school and worked in a factory for 43 years. Also a few months in a sawmill that could have killed me from the after hours drinking. Such fond memories. I only talk age as a joke and try not to be a prick about it. Enjoy being a kid of 38. Wish I could remember that far back.

Your sardonic attitude is quite clear.

"A kid".

Yet, I feel like half my life is over and there isn't much to show for it. At least my four cats don't care much about such nuance.

It was not meant as sardonic but I regret you perceived it in a negative way. I am not a mean spirited person. I save that for others. I don't add to it. Or try not to. I have known some mean sonsabitches and even a few killers and yeah I know mean. I ain't it.

My wording was off. Downside of knowing a lot of words.

A reminder that I still have much life left to "fuck up" is refreshing. You somehow instantly feel like a cha'Dich to me. (Klingon)

Yer cool. I admire smart folks when they are cool.

Smart. I... aspire to be so.
