certainty in poetry

at a certain point you’ll have
to come to terms with the fact
that you can’t come to terms
with every single fact
that’s in your life

there will always be
some loose threads
there will always be
some undone ends
there will always be
unreconcilable family
unreachable old friends
broken parts of your heart
you can never wholly mend
but can get held together
til around the next bend

nothing is ever over
not really not fully
even in death we are
rocks in the waters
shooting out ripples
shooting out threads
that’ll always hang loose
that’ll never quite end

it’s okay
this is just how life works
embrace what you can
