the undiscovered country in poetry

I feel it each
unsleeping night
my head my heart
my soul, they are
kingdoms of almost
empires of not-quite
unquiet with the roar
of infinite just-missed
grazed up aside the very
face of the divine for a
brief kiss, culminating
in nothing more than a
memory of possibility
faded lost potential
passing hints of a
destiny unlearned
unaccomplished
and unearned
but then
I dream
again
