NJM 2020, Entry 17 - Quickly, Before I Zoom! in These Foolish Things

Well, the workday is flying by and I have a Zoom call with the icky licensing people in an hour and I forgot to bring my valium to work! Sometimes when I have these calls, I have to take a ½ tab of the good stuff in order to get through the stress of it all. These guys activate my anxiety like nothing I’ve ever experienced! Boss hates them more than I do, but he also doesn’t have to deal with them like I do. So it will be an hour of grilling at 4pm. I’ll be fine. I don’t have to deal with them often, and I can make it through this without the help of pharmaceuticals, though barely. Hopefully we will be done by 5 so I can give the dog a quick walk and then we can head out to run a few errands.

I’m getting my iphone upgrade tonight. I’ll be getting the new iPhone 12 Pro Max. The only reason I’m doing this right now is that I have that weird loan that Apple makes you get in order to get an upgrade every time a new phone comes out. It’s kind of like a lease, I guess. It reminds me of my car lease…which reminds me…

I am thinking about Mini Pearl II since my lease will be up on Mini Pearl, the Original in April. I have gone on the website and picked out the little cutie that I want (you can build your own on their website) and I’ve gone in and put a few things together but haven’t actually pulled the trigger yet. I am pretty sure I want a pearl white convertible (of course) with black racing stripes, black wheels, caramel leather interior with the cream-colored piping and manual transmission (to be totally zippy!). Whee!

And speaking of leases, my apartment lease will be up at the same time. That’s why I think I want to renew my car lease sooner rather than later so I don’t have to deal with allllll of this stuff all at once. And hopefully by springtime we’ll be a few steps closer to being over this pandemic.

And while I’m thinking about my to-do list, there’s still holiday decorating to do and shopping - online will be the vast majority of my shopping this year - even though part of my job is to go out and check out the scene during Black Friday. It’s such a different year this year.

It truly already feels like the end of 2020 is right around the corner!

Well, almost an hour just went by fast. Of course, I had several interruptions and now I need to prep for this call - mentally and physically.

Much to do!
GS

You're definitely in the wrong job if you need Valium to get you through!!
Also, manual transmission?! I'm never changing gear again! lol
xx

You're sooooo right about the drugs, man.

And yes! I love manual transmissions! I learned to drive with a stick and I just kinda love that it's becoming a lost art!

Complicated Disaster Ginger Snap ⋅ November 17, 2020

Almost everyone here drives a manual and I have no idea why. There's so much traffic congestion these days that an auto is so much less stressful! Xx

Ginger Snap Complicated Disaster ⋅ November 18, 2020

That's true... I'm still thinking about it, but I really liked the manual for the "cool factor" - haha!

Complicated Disaster Ginger Snap ⋅ November 18, 2020

I've got the "flappy paddle" manual shifter option in my car and I was super excited about it at first. But then I realised that the car has a much better idea of what gear it should be in than I do, so now I just let it do it's thing! lol xx

Everyone over here drives a stick - I don’t why the autos haven’t caught on. Hope the Zoom call wasn’t too onerous!

Ginger Snap Marg ⋅ November 18, 2020

I guess I didn't realize that everyone over there drives a manual transmission. I'd love an auto as well if that were the case. I kind of like it because most people over here don't even know how to shift!

The Thirsty Oriental November 18, 2020

That's right, you drive that stick shift!

Ginger Snap The Thirsty Oriental ⋅ November 18, 2020

Haha! Um.

The Thirsty Oriental Ginger Snap ⋅ November 18, 2020

Haha... I am a manual transmission snob.

Jinn November 19, 2020

I know how to shift but I hate it. I just want to drive .

I've always liked Minis but our roads are so littered with potholes that the ride would get to me. (and they are such 'chic' car.)
Everyone should know how to drive a stick.
