This is about Lord of the Rings, the PJ adaptation.

I could pre-tangent into how males and females are perceived in current Earth with a given length of hair, but this isn’t about that. So. Humor me.

Aragorn. Medium length black hair. A note of permanent stubble.. He looks rugged, seasoned. When I try the same, I just look dirty.

Gimli. Long red hair, and a long braided beard. Like a hockey player, the beard denotes Gimli has been in his fair share of battles.

And of course Legolas. Clean face, denoting the eternal youth of the elves. And his long blonde hair. Maybe he’s born with it.

Maybe he’s Legolas.

Faramir? Boromir? Dickathor? King Theoden? Eomer? All long hair.

Ah, but who doesn’t have long hair: The hobbits. None of the four protagonist hobbits have long hair. They have short hair, denoting eternal youth.

Whether Peter Jackson intended this or not. Well done. Well done.
