Final Friday in These Foolish Things

It’s my final day of WFH for however long. I’m still in my workout gear as I did 30 minutes of HIIT after taking the dog for a walk and dropping her off at daycare. I am now thinking that I’m going to miss some of this at home stuff, but again, I feel like I need more of a schedule in my life.

It’s weird, though. When I was talking with Boss about this he told me that it’s ALL OR NOTHING. We’re not allowed to switch around WFH and working in the office (a few days in the office, a few days at home). You’re either working in the office or you’re not. But then, he told the rest of his team that they are going to be working in the office one day a week and the rest at home. This goes against everything he’s been saying for weeks, but…that’s Boss for you. He changes things at his own whim. And it’s never really “fair”. I am the only one on his team working at the office full time. Whaaa?

Oh well. I have a job during a pandemic and that’s what matters right now. And office time is what I wanted in the first place. Gotta press on.

Been thinking about my brother, who is a school teacher and already working the new school year directly with students. He says that there’s NO protocol. There’s NO social distancing and there’s no mask mandate. How on earth are they going to keep an outbreak from happening? They’re not, are they?

I have a friend whose daughter brought it home to the family. I don’t know the circumstances, but her 8 or 10-year old got sick and it turned out to be Covid and the next day, her husband got sick and then the next day SHE (my friend) got sick. Their son is not displaying symptoms, but of course, he is in isolation with the family. So far, none of them have anything serious. I am still sending the most positive vibes I can.

I know this story is repeating itself over and over and over and we haven’t even gotten to the whole nation sending their kids back to school yet…OR the cold and flu season!! I’m scared.

…later

But it’s clearly not keeping me from getting outside and shopping. I just went to a local outdoor shopping center and popped into Banana Republic because I saw This Dress (the lush, green version!) in the window. It was calling my name. I haven’t purchased any clothes at all this summer because I haven’t had anywhere to go or anyone to see. Maybe this will help with the patio dining. Now I have an excuse to invite someone to outdoor brunch or somesuch.

Yeah. I was going stir crazy inside the apartment and just NEEDED to get out. Yeah, I was on the clock, but I didn’t even step foot outside during lunchtime, so I gave myself a break to walk and shop it off.

Came home and now I’m sad again. How do I shake this feeling?

Here’s some good news: my mom is now talking SMACK about Trump!! I LOVE IT.

Better finish my work day.

Anxiously,
GS

I am. I peeped into this store for 10 minutes, max. Nobody else in there except for staff and one other person.

That dress was worth the risk! And obviously I don’t mean that anyone should get Covid over a pretty dress for real, but I think you’ll be fine (and look smokin’ in it!).

I think most of us feel extremely anxious ; instead of good news ; all we hear is that things are going to get worse . :-(
I have to fight my urges to shop on line :-)

Cute dress! I love how they show a matching mask for the yellow version!

A lot offices in my area, including mine, are teleworking for the rest of the year. I hope it shows management how unnecessary it is to disallow full-time telework. When this is over, I hope to telework at least once a week, maybe twice. A buddy of mine who works for a state agency and her job was made telework for good.

One of my proudest parent moments was when MY mom and dad started talking smack about Trump last year. This from hard-core conservatives. They're even going to vote for Biden/Harris in November! <3

Oh that dress is going to look gorgeous with your hair colour! I have the same fears about the schools going back - just can’t see how we can avoid it really.
