Back to Work, Back to Reality-ish in These Foolish Things

Well, not really “back to work” but “back to the office”.

I don’t know why this was such a big deal, but I felt like I needed this for my sanity. Here’s what’s happening while Covid still rages on:

  • Yesterday (Monday), the first day back, there were probably 15 people in the office (normally close to 150), which was cool. It was good to see those 15 peeps - we all wore masks and stayed distant - and were able to chat about things and have some HUMAN INTERACTION.

  • Today was different. There have only been four of us in the office, and we are in like four different corners of the office so I’ve had no interaction with anyone except for taking the dog over to my co-worker to hang out for a bit. I don’t know if I’m going to like this better than working from home or not. I literally got up and put on a pretty dress - and lipstick - and have seen next to nobody.

  • Boss has hired someone new to replace the positions of Best Bud, a woman who worked for Best Bud, and Brown Nosey. He is literally expecting her to cover all of those positions. Luckily, she will have a strong team and she seems like a capable leader as well…but, Boss has also put my sample maker on her staff. This is a position that has nothing to do with her role. I’m super annoyed by this. Why would he do this?

  • I need to keep reminding myself over and over that I still have a JOB during Covid! That’s the most important thing about this whole ordeal. Dresses and coworkers and spiteful thinking will not get not get me anywhere except frustrated. I don’t need that stress during a pandemic.

  • I did talk with a headhunter today. We talked. And then he talked. And talked. And talked. AND TALKED. The guy would never shut up! I liked his enthusiasm, but didn’t he want to know more about me??? Regardless, this is the start of the slow journey to my next move.

  • Bro called during lunchtime while I was talking with the headhunter and literally freaked me out! Why would he be calling during the workday? He’s a teacher, busy with in-person teaching kids who are not wearing masks (!!!). I couldn’t answer the phone because dude was talking a mile a minute, so Bro left a message. When I finally got off the phone with headhunter, I called Bro back. Apparently, my parents left their isolation compound to go to Walmart today!! We have asked them to please not go anywhere, but I guess all of this isolation broke them too! My SIL, who is staying with them, told my brother and my brother tattled to me! I’m sure they will be fine, but I’m dying to know the story of why they busted out and went. I wonder if mom will confess during our daily video chat. We shall see!

  • I also talked with a guy who matches people with franchises. I don’t know if I’d ever want to own a franchise, but…you never know, right? Anybody know anything about franchises? They seem to be a shit-ton of work until you get established, right? Hm…

  • Tomorrow I won’t even be in the office at all as I have a photoshoot at a studio close to my place. I’m gonna drop the dog off at her daycare and head to the studio late-ish because my product won’t get shot until later.

  • It feels a little like progress, but I have a ways to go. While I was happy to be here for a couple of days, am I going to survive being one of only a couple of people here at the office for months on end? We shall see! In fact, things could change again tomorrow. We just don’t know during these times. Must remain as flexible as possible.

Time to go,
GS

Your boss is just plain weird! I'm not sure I see the point in going into the office. I thought you said they're was supposed to be 50% of people there every day? Xx

No. 10-15% of the people. Nobody wants to go back! Haha. I prefer about 15% ...the good ones 😊

What a waste of a pretty dress and hippie. Nice to have a reason to wear something other than active wear though 😀

I'd be willing to open a Raising Cane's franchise in Rapid City just so we could have a Raising Cane's in Rapid City!

Ginger Snap plushcreep ⋅ August 19, 2020

haha! Do it! I'll watch to see how it works :)

Sorry it’s not working out so well at the office :-( . My husband initially hated working from home and now he has decided he likes it . I wish he would go back to the office . 😂

hahah! So funny! We always want what we don't have.

That is the truth.
