We want something that feels grown up for once. Kinda fancy and put together. So we are going to buy a bedroom set. I know its an indulgence and something we dont have to have. T is getting a refund check from the extended warrenty on his previous car. So we will have some cash that isnt slotted for something else. Unless we do debt. We technically dont have to buy anything yet. But it would be nice… We could always just pay off a small credit card and the dogs care credit.
I know that is the logical thing to do… My mom said we could take her couch and then the futon is ours, so we would have seating to start so we dont HAVE to buy a couch either. But it just seems like we are buying a brand new house. Wouldent it be awesome if everything went together! The walls are a pale grey, the floors are a grey wood. The furniture i picked is all creams and greys.

But it would be 2K for a couch, loveseat, bed frame and 2 end tables. So can we justify it or not is the real question. We WANT it. But we could use my moms couch ( dark brown) and the futon ( black) And the 5 bookshelves shes giving us. Just put the bed on the floor like we have been. Its fine. Its just not as nice as i want. Im just being picky and selfish i know by wanting those things…

Yeah I've never bought furniture, too expensive. Our couch is from FB marketplace its a sectional and I think we gave them $100 for it. But I also understand wanting all nice new stuff :)

I got a few things at garage sales today. I wanted all matching, But this was ok too. Got an antique sideboard that has leafs like a table and can expand. For a desk for the kids. A wooden cat box holder/hider for our new cat. Few other random things that will be useful.

Yeah I understand that for sure, bed bugs can be a huge issue. I've always gotten 2nd hand couches and Ive never had a bed bug problem maybe I just got lucky

It scares me, especially in a city like this! I know they were nasty in Alaska and now im in a huge city and its like ew. Im grateful my kids arent going to school for lice!

We always buy couches new and mattresses, but most of my other furniture is from thrift stores. It’s quirky and eccentric but I am fond of it , so I have not bought new. I probably will not ever replace it. When we thought we would move to AZ my Dad said , “ Don’t move any of it , you can buy better out here.” . I was a little insulted :-)

Well even thrifted sometimes you can get excellent deals across the board. And nothign WRONG with it for sure! ive never owned much new. So im excited to actually get something new! I just want things to go together nicely for once. And i want everything clean and bright! So dark wood isnt really going to go with what i want.
