Sunday Night Blues in These Foolish Things

Been a long time since I’ve had the Sunday Night Blues. I’m surprised how familiar they feel. I’m so full of mixed emotions right now. Very happy to go back to a job. Very anxious that I’m still going to be working for Boss. Very curious as to how it’s going to be in the time of Corona and masks.

I have a set time that I have to be “signed in” at the office - between 7:30 and 7:45. Interesting, huh? I guess they gave the early shift to all of the folks who were laid off. No matter. I’ll drop the dog off at daycare (they are not letting dogs come to work for the time being) at 7am right when they first open and then drive the 30-minute commute to the office to make it by the skin of my teeth with mask ON!

I’m very much looking forward to a scheduled routine. I didn’t realize how much I miss having a strict schedule. I have the days of the coming week all planned:

5:00am: Alarm
5:15am: 30-minute workout
5:45am: shower and get ready
6:45am: leave for Martini’s daycare
7:00am: daycare drop-off
7:35am: arrive at work
7:45am: begin work
11:45am: lunch
12:44pm: work
5:00pm: leave office
5:45pm: pick up Martini at daycare
6:30pm: dinner
7:00pm: call mom and dad
7:30pm: walk Martini
8:30pm: wind down for bed

And repeat for the next 5 days. Wow. Sounds exciting, huh?

I’ll have to pepper in the following here and there:

  • Network for new job
  • Fill out applications
  • Log onto dating sites to check out scene
  • New apartment searches
  • Prosebox
  • Rooftop chats and wine with neighbors
  • Other miscellaneous as needed

Anyway. Yeah. I hope that this is the start of a return to somewhat normalcy. And yes, there is a pandemic still raging, but let’s see how we do in an office environment. I’m sure I’ll document it soon.

My work bag is almost completely packed - will need to bring my work laptop back to the office and gotta pack lunches in the morning and then I’ll be ready to roll!

Wow. This seems so weird.

Off to walk the dog now.

Anxiously,
GS
