The hardest thing for people who feel deeply is that the march of time will separate one from another. It doesn't happen to everyone the same way, but it happens to everyone IN a way. Part of growing up is making decisions about how to react to that. I'll admit, I've... done poorly. When friends leave or begin to fade away, I tend to shrug my shoulders and move on. It may seem "better" but it is just more detached. I think feeling the hurt, dealing with it, and moving on would be better. It acknowledges how much the person meant to you but allows you to grow beyond the situation.
