Sunset and flowers
There was a beautiful sunset this evening, the best so far this year. It wrapped right around the sky. I took this photo facing almost north. On evenings like this I am so thankful that I live h...
Spring has arrived but still no passport.
The weather has been really spring like lately and I'm loving it. The daffodils are out in the garden and I can sit on the patio with my coffee again and listen to the birds singing. Two weeks a...
What's in a name?
Someone just rang up and asked for David. I told them they must have the wrong number. They said I want David A........ and I realised they actually did want my husband. His name is David John bu...
Money and primroses
Isn't it awful the way we can sometimes focus on people's negative qualities and forget to see their good points. I was talking to a friend who had just had a row with her rather anal husband abo...
The Passport Chronicles
We are planning a visit to The Netherlands in April and I am beginning to wonder if someone up there doesn’t want us to go. To visit Amsterdam has been a dream of mine for several years now. I wa...
Doing what you can
I love this story, it reminds me of something I read that Mother Teresa said - 'If you can't feed 100 people then feed one.' Making a difference is all about doing what you can. Sometimes I g...
Time in my garden at last
After all of the storms and the rain it has been lovely to enjoy 2 fine sunny days. At last I have been able to spend some hours in the garden. I planted the last of the pansies in tubs, did a ge...
The storms continue
And so it goes on; the wind is raging, rain is falling; there is water coming under the kitchen door and the roof is leaking in the bedroom. But we are getting off lightly compared to others. Th...
Memories, floods and moving on

Weather!
This weather is unbelievable. This morning I woke to sunshine, it was cold but settled and I was planning to plant my winter window boxes. I've been trying to get them done since November, the po...
The First Snowdrop
There is a snowdrop outside my kitchen window. There's only one and it's still a bud, but the sight of it sitting there saying, Life goes on and Spring isn't too far away, warms my heart on this ...
My Little Box
My first entry here. I heard 3 days ago that Pete Seeger had died. I am a fugitive from Open Diary and I went there to write about this, found O D was closing and here I am. I loved Pete Seeger...
Book Description
I live in a terraced cottage on a hillside in South Herefordshire, UK. We are just in England but from our windows we have a view of the Black Mountains which are in Wales. I live with my husband, 2 grown up sons and 4 cats, we also have a daughter who lives with her boyfriend in South Wales.
I don’t have good health but I do voluntary work on a crisis helpline. I love writing. I write poetry and have written a book about my childhood growing up in a pub in Shrewsbury which I am hoping to get published.
I love music. I sing and play guitar and enjoy entertaining, though I don’t get to do that so much as before my health got bad. My other interests are psychology, the environment, history, gardening, genealogy and travel.
Because of my health I am home a lot and this is my view from the terrace..
