NJM17: Preparations in These Foolish Things

I literally spent the whole day prepping for my two trips this week.

I’ve packed one suitcase that should take me through Sunday even though I’ll fly home Wednesday night and leave again on Thursday morning. I didn’t want to have to think about anything in that short, short window of time.

I went to see my parents today. I was actually pleased to see my dad doing as well as he was doing, but in hindsight he may have been putting on a show for me. I took them a set of keys for my apartment if they need to come to “the big city” for any of Dad’s issues. They can stay at my place while I’m gone if need be. I feel like they won’t, but I feel good just knowing that the option is available to them just in case (like, say if my dad needs to be admitted into the hospital or something). We had a very nice visit. I’m happy I went out there. The weather was gorgeous, my folks were in fairly good spirits - considering the circumstances, and I’m hoping that they’ll get everything taken care of this week with regards to getting my dad’s MRI stuff.

Then I popped into the office to take care of something before dropping the dog off at her boyfriend’s. Her boyfriend is a chunky little Min Pin named Brady. They are in love. She was thrilled to be at Joanna’s house again. Love that she has a place to go when I travel.

I haven’t talked with Joe Llama today, though we did text a tiny bit. I don’t know if he’ll ask me out again if today is an indication. But I don’t have time to go out anyway since I’ll be gone… still would be nice to know I’ll be seeing him again and maybe meeting his llama. That’s not a euphemism. Or is it?

I gotta sleep now. I gotta get up super early because once again, I have booked the earliest flight outta here. My philosophy is to book the first flight because they have the best chance of taking off and getting to the destination on time. While that may be true, I have to get up in the middle of the night to make it to the airport on time.

Nothing is ever easy, is it?
